See How These UPMA Members Benefited

When You Join UPMA, we’ve got your back. You get the support and guidance of strong, career Postal Service leaders. Got a question? Ask ‘em. Need an introduction, you’ve got it. These members share what a difference UPMA has made in their lives and careers.

I never had been a Manager. I had no experience with any USPS programs or running a manual office. My new office had a rural carrier, with the mail count looming in one month. Thankfully, the neighboring Postmasters on both sides of me were members of our organization and took me under their wings. They taught me to fly”

When I started thinking about membership, I realized how my membership in UPMA has impacted not only my worklife, but my personal life, as well. The three areas that stand out are networking, opportunities and lifelong friends."

When most of us think about membership, we think about belonging. UPMA is a family and you belong. We also think about benefits, as in, We’ve got you covered”

I stayed in UPMA after retirement to keep up with what’s going on and see the Postal Service changes.

The UPMA organization is such a positive for members as you can utilize all the experience of senior Postmasters for help in all facets of your job. Some very detailed Postmasters are experts in finance, delivery, labor law, etc. The support is out there if you need it. Retirees can also help with many areas and advise if you are thinking of retiring.

When I was an active Postmaster, I had the first vehicle stolen in the nation after 911. It’s a long story, but the short version is the vehicle wash guy left a set of keys in the door of one of the vehicles. Some kids came through the parking lot with no fence and took the vehicle for a joy ride.

I was charged with treason. Now think about getting a letter saying in writing that you were not loyal to your country. Of course, I fought it and won, but the deal is being a member; you have legal to help you. I had a clean record, so the takeaway is your boss can go after you for anything if they want to make an example out of you. Get to know your chapter officers and attend the meetings.”
